The Croatian Esperanto League organized, on April 13, Day of Remembrance for victims of the Holocaust, a cultural program in Zagreb's Zamenhof Street. The program honored the 90th anniversary of the death of Lazar Ludovic Zamenhof. Jasminka Doma, a representative of the Jewish Community Bet Israel, spoke in general about the meaning of the Holocaust. In the center of the program, in addition to music, there was a reading from Roman Dobrzynski's book Zamenhof Street. Vida Jerman read an Esperanto fragment from the book with translations in Croatian and Slovene. Fragments from the chapters about the ghetto were presented in Polish, Slovak, Czech, French, Japanese ... Kaja Farszky and Vlad Vucheta accompanied on the drum. Setsuko Shimizu's pair of children played the violin. The entire program began with a solemn homage, the placing of a bouquet of flowers from Stjepan Mesic, President of Croatia: the Presidential delegation placed flowers at the street sign bearing the name Lazar Ludovic Zamenhof. After the flower homage, the public walked to the accompaniment of a drum to the temporary stage mounted in Zamenhof Street. Reports on the radio and in three newspapers. Beautiful weather attracted sixty to be present.
